Obituary

SOUTH HERO, VT – Gregory M. Carter, 76, of Carter Lane, passed away unexpectedly on July 5, 2023.

He was born in Burlington, VT on March 25, 1947, son of Lloyd and Katherine (Mack) Carter.  Greg enlisted in the US Navy in 1967 and was honorably discharged in 1971.

He had a deep love for the Islands and the lake for which he grew up on.  Spending his life enjoying the water, whether it be boating and water sports with his kids, or spending time at his family's camp.

He had a wide variety of hobbies and interests, but what he loved most was anything to do with cars – especially his passion for drag racing.  If you knew him, you knew that his soul ignited on a race track taking in the entire experience:  the smell, sounds, and energy of the cars.

Greg could talk to anyone about anything, and he would.  He was strong willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart.  He was generous, loyal, and brave.  He was clever and full of knowledge gained through all of his life experiences.

Greg will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his friends and family.  He truly loved each of them.  He will be missed dearly.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 49 years Patricia Carter who he married on September 1, 1973;  son, Nicholas (Alicia) Carter of Milton, VT;  daughters, Courtney (PJ) Roberts of Plattsburgh, NY, Katherine (Edward) Abramczyk of Plattsburgh, NY, and Michaela (Michael) Bacigalupo of South Hero, VT;  and grandchildren, Michael Carter, Emma Carter, Claire Roberts, Evelyn Roberts, Gillian Roberts, Liam Roberts, Hailey Abramczyk, Taylor Abramczyk, Carter Abramczyk, Eliana Bacigalupo, and Aria Bacigalupo.

Services for Greg will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
