PLATTSBURGH – Helena Alger, 93, of South Peru Street, passed away on April 15, 2023.  She was born on August 2, 1929, daughter of Edward and Edith (Laforest) Guyette.

Helena married Robert Alger at St. Louis of France Church in Sciota on November 15, 1946.  Robert predeceased her on July 11, 1995.

She worked in the catalog department of Montgomery Wards for many years until her retirement and was a former member of the American Legion 538 Auxiliary in Mooers.

Helena enjoyed spending time playing bingo and most of all being with her loving family.

Survivors include her children, Kevin and Suzanne Alger, Scott and Jessica Alger, and Linda Shepard;  eight grandchildren;  nine great-grandchildren;  six great-great-grandchildren;  and numerous nieces and nephews.

Helena was predeceased by her parents;  husband;  daughter, Debbie Alger;  son-in-law, Raymond Shepard;  and twelve brothers and sisters.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.  Helena will be laid to rest next to her husband in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Plattsburgh.
