CADYVILLE – Hildred Carter, 85, passed away, March 3, 2022.
She was born on April 30, 1936 in Cadyville, daughter of Oscar and Minnie (Miller) Rabideau, Sr.
Hildred married Wilfred C. Carter in 1954 at St. James Church in Cadyville.
She began working at Woolworths Department Store on Margaret Street, and then went on to work at Hickory Farms Store in the Pyramid Mall, Steinbach's Clothing Store and then retiring in 2006 from Big Lot's.
Hildred enjoyed going camping in her spare time, and was also an avid crafter, especially quilting.
Survivors include her children, James "Jimmy" Carter, Susan (Jack) Benoit, Cynthia (Robert) McGee, and Nancy Carter; brothers, Oscar Rabideau, Jr., Kenneth (Barbara) Rabideau, Thomas (Jane) Rabideau, Lawrence (Debbie) Rabideau, and Terry (Heidi) Rabideau; sisters, Judy (Peter) Sorrell, Jennette Baker, Diane Gordon, Bernadette (John) Mashtare, and Sandra (Dennis) Heidlemark; grandchildren, Anna Tamer, Mitchell Tamer, Sean McGee, Meghan McGee, Cory McGee, Anthony Carter, and Jessica Carter; 2 great-grandchildren and another on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Hildred was predeceased by her husband, Wilfred C. Carter, son, Jerry Carter, brothers-in-law, Frank Baker and Lee Gordon.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 9 th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in St. James Church in Cadyville.
Burial will take place in the spring in the parish cemetery.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Plattsburgh Food Shelf or your local soup kitchen.
