WEST CHAZY – Howard J. Chauvin, 80, of Military Turnpike, passed away Monday, January 30, 2023 at CVPH Medical Center surrounded by his family.
He was born in Plattsburgh on January 17, 1943 the son of Louis and Eleanor (Relation) Chauvin.
Howard married Noella Barcomb at St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks in 1963. After growing up on the family farm he went to work for Sheridan Iron Works in Champlain, Arpak Plastics in Plattsburgh, and Mold-Rite Plastics in Plattsburgh. Where he retired as a machinist in 2009 after 25 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Morrisonville and was a 3 rd, Degree Knight. He was also a very active member at St. Joseph's church in West Chazy, where he served in many parish council positions. From the Council President to Trustee, Men's club President to Bingo Captain. He was a Eucharistic minister, usher, if the church needed something he was there. After his retirement he could be seen at most, if not all of the weekday masses and frequently at both Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning mass. For many years he supplied the church's harvest dinner with turnip grown in his own garden.
He was an avid gardener and could most likely be found there during his free time during the growing season. He always seemed to plant way too many tomato plants, cucumbers and squash and was generous to friends and family alike.
