Ida Mary Strack (formerly Racette), of Morrisonville, NY, died peacefully of natural causes on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital. She was 81.

Ida was born on December 17, 1940 in Redford, New York, daughter of Samuel and Matilda (LaValley) Racette. She dropped out of high school at a young age to raise a family and in one of her proudest life achievements returned to school as an Adult Learner to acquire her GED diploma and attend classes at Clinton Community College in Plattsburgh, NY. She later worked for many years at Bow Industrial Corporation in Plattsburgh, retiring as a Supervisor.

In 1957 Ida married her childhood sweetheart James Strack, and together they had 5 children, Keith, Russell, Glen, Blake, and Jamie. She dedicated herself to raising her family. Ida was a very caring mother and a proud grandmother who NEVER missed any of her grandchildren's birthdays. She was an avid reader and cat lover. She enjoyed spending her time playing pinochle and other card games with her many friends, and later transitioned to staying in touch with friends and family on Facebook. She will be greatly missed.

Ida is survived by her children, Keith (Regina Capobianco) Strack, Russell (Teresa) Strack, Glen (Melissa) Strack, Blake (Melissa Kim) Strack, and Jamie Gardner; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Jim, sisters, Marie LaPlante, Dorothy Tuthill, Elizabeth Kissner, and Roseanne Racette; and brothers, James Racette and Alfred Racette.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2022 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court Street, Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 in the funeral home chapel.
