August 18, 1934 – December 20, 2021
Irene M. LaValley, 87, of State Route 9, passed away Monday, December 20, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Mooers, NY on August 18, 1934 the daughter of Leonard and Leona (Favreau) Miller.
Irene married Donald H. LaValley on June 26, 1954 at St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks.
She was employed at Chazy Central Rural School, starting in the cafeteria, then becoming a teacher's aid, then moving into the office as a secretary and retiring as the secretary to the Superintendent.
Irene was a member of the Chazy Fire Department Auxiliary. She was queen of the Chazy Old Home Days in 2010. She enjoyed baking for family meals, spending time with the grandchildren, enjoying music, dancing and camping.
Survivors include son, Dennis LaValley and his wife, Gail of Chazy; daughter, Donna Bechard and her husband, David of Plattsburgh; grandchildren, Joshua and Danielle Bechard, Corey and Megan Spuck, Jon and Lindsay Greaney; grandchildren, Garrett and Cara Mastic; 7 great-grandchildren, sister, Annette Hosler and her husband, Raymond; brothers, Leeward Miller and his wife, Monica, Clarence Miller and his wife, Deborah, Lionel Miller and his wife, Pat and Roger Miller and his wife, Lise; sisters-in-law, Janice LaValley and Pauline Miller and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband, Donald H. LaValley, her father and mother-in-law, Henry and Lena LaValley, granddaughter, Ashley LaValley, brothers, Reginald Miller and Homer Miller and niece, Janine Miller.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 from 4 to 7 pm at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court Street, Plattsburgh.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Church in Chazy.
Burial will be at a later date in the parish cemetery.
Masks will be required for all services.
The family would like to thank all the special individuals that helped care for our mother, thank you Irene, Edna, Marilyn, Cathy, Hunter and Jesse, also thank you to Hospice of the North Country and Heather, all that everyone did for us is appreciated.
