Jagadeep Manubhai Parikh, 81, of Plattsburgh, passed away Saturday Aug. 3, 2019, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born in Ahmedabad, India, on Aug. 6, 1937, the son of Manubhai and Vinodini (Nilkanth) Parikh.
Jagadeep attended B.J. Medical College in India, where he received his Doctor of Medicine degree. While studying at medical school, he also served in the National Cadet Corp of India as an expert in riflery and was selected to participate in the Republic Day Parade in front of the President of India.
Following his medical training, Jagadeep went to England where he worked in the Sheffield Children's Hospital as a pediatric surgeon and was a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons. While in England he also met his beloved wife Tina Chapman and they were married on Oct. 10, 1970, in Ahmedabad, India. Jagadeep moved to the United States in 1976 and was a Physician at CVPH Medical Center, retiring in 1993.
Survivors include his wife, Tina Parikh of Plattsburgh; sons, Akash Parikh and his wife Carrie Ferguson of Jeffersonville, Vt., Sanjai Parikh and his wife Wendy of Davis, Calif.; a daughter, Sonia Parikh and her husband Andrew Jerabek of Delmar, N.Y.; brother, Sukumar Parikh of Ahmedabad, India; sister, Ranjana Pendharkar of Mumbai, India; grandchildren, Shreyas, Jai, Ishaan, Ulka, Ila, Kairav, Luciana, and Samiya; and his dog, Olivia.
Services will be held on Friday, August 9th from 12 to 2 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
