Obituary

PLATTSBURGH – James A. Gregory, 82, of Cumberland Head Road, passed away on May 8, 2020 at the CVPH Medical Center, after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease.

He was born in Springfield, MA on October 23, 1937 the son of Sherman and (Elizabeth Riegler) Gregory.

Jim attended Edgemont, in Scarsdale, NY, SUNY  Plattsburgh and the University of Washington in Seattle.

Jim and Mickey Powell met at Whiteface and the rest is History. They married in St. John's Church on June 13, 1964 and followed the snow to Colorado and Washington, eventually residing in Tahoe City.

Jim's passion was boating, both sailing and power, and he was a past commodore of the Tahoe Yacht Club. He was an avid skier, enjoying the great snow and sun at Squaw Valley.

The Gregorys owned clothing stores in Tahoe City and Squaw Valley, and kept their North Country connection by employing summer help from Plattsburgh, Lake Placid and Vermont.

They visited Plattsburgh often, and in 2016, moved back to Mickey's family home on Cumberland Head.

Survivors include his wife, Maureen  "Mickey" Gregory; daughters, Jill Gregory, of Newport Beach, CA and Jessica Tate and her husband, Michael of Sacramento, CA; sister, Betty Carroll; grandchildren, Kate Curtis, Alex Tate and Parker Tate; two nieces and three nephews.

Jim loved spending his time with his daughters and their families.

He was predeceased by his parents and Judy Gregory Brown, of Brandon, VT.

A Memorial will be held in the future at the Tahoe Yacht Club in Tahoe City, CA.
