James "Jim"
Guay
April 9, 1951 – March 14, 2026
James Michael Guay "Jim", 74, of Altona, NY went to have an in-person conversation with "the man upstairs" as he called him, on Saturday, March 14th, 2026. He was born April 9th, 1951 to Maurice Guay Sr. and Myrtle Relation Guay Frost.
He graduated from Northern Adirondack in 1971. His work history included the Town of Chazy, Plattsburgh Air Force Base, and the Clinton County Highway Department, when he retired in 2017.
He loved playing guitar, tinkering in the garage, talking with people about just about anything, giving hugs, and loving his various pets (both cats and dogs) over his many years. He missed mowing roadsides and often commented on the mowers even after being retired.
He was predeceased by his father, mother, and stepfather, Richard Frost, his brothers, Maurice Jr. (Nick), Aaron, and Gaylord (Pip). He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mae Dubrey Guay; his daughter, Abby Guay; 12 sisters in law, among these being Janeen, Hildegard, and Carol Guay; one aunt, Carole Relation; and many cousins, nieces and nephews who remember him with love; his baby cat, Daisy; and his grandcat, Tango. All who met him will remember him for his stories, his friendliness, and wanting to learn about other people.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026 from 4:00 to 6:00pm at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 6:00pm. Burial will take place in the spring at St. Louis of France Cemetery in Sciota.
