James “Jim” Lombard died as the result of a heart attack in his home in Floyd, VA on Sunday, August 16, 2026. He was 83 years old.

He is survived by his sons Matthew, of Roanoke, VA and Andrew of Phoenix, AZ, and his trusty schnauzer companion Moses. Jim's wife of over 60 years, Carol, predeceased him in December 2024.

Jim was born in Plattsburgh, NY, and moved to Floyd last year for easier winters and to be near family. He had just joined the Church of the Brethren as a member 2 weeks prior to his passing.

Services in Jim's memory will be held on August 27 at 11 am at the Copper Hill Church of the Brethren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 29th from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with burial in the East Beekmantown Cemetery.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Copper Hill Church of the Brethren.
