James Randall
Niquette
June 19, 1948 – November 28, 2018
Winooski VT/ Plattsburgh NY –
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of our brother, uncle, cousin and friend, on November 28th, 2018, James Randall Niquette (Randy).
Randy was born in Colchester, VT on June 19, 1948, the son of Russell F. Niquette and Corinne (Villemaire) Niquette. He was the youngest of four children the oldest being his sister, Mary Jane, his brother Russell Jr., and his sister Nancy Jean.
The family lived in Winooski, VT, where Randy attended St. Francis Xavier grade school, then Rice Memorial in South Burlington for two years before transferring to Mount Assumption Academy (MAI) in Plattsburgh, New York, where he made a name for himself as "Bulldog" on the school football team. After graduating from MAI he attended Norwich University. After graduating from Norwich University he was a member of the Army National Guard.
Randy's first endeavor in 1975 was with The Pomerleau Agency, where he became a very successful Realtor. After leaving the Pomerleau Agency, he worked with his brother, Russell, and Martin Tierney to construct and develop real estate. A couple of his successful projects are the restoration of the Winooski Block, and Millyard Condominiums, of which he was a part owner.
Always the "free spirit," Randy again changed professions and went to work as an Investigator for the State Of Vermont Public Defender Office, in Rutland Vermont, where he was happily engaged in the criminal defense system.
Randy retired in 1995 because of health issues, and resided in Winooski, where, after the death of his father Russell Niquette, he lovingly cared for his mother and two aunts, Katherine and Charlotte Villemaire until their deaths.
In 2004, Randy purchased the home of his beloved football coach, Coach Pajonas from MAI, and returned to Plattsburgh, New York where he remained until his death to be with the many classmates and friends he had made in his years at MAI and in Plattsburgh.
Randy was predeceased by his father, Russell Niquette and his mother Corinne Niquette. In 2015, he lost his sister Nancy to ovarian cancer and just recently Nancy's husband Rosario (Russ) Malone passed. He is survived by his sister Mary Jane and her husband Antonio, of Alexandria, Virginia, and her two daughters, Christina and Elena Kasos, and Elana's husband George Kasos, his brother Russell Niquette,Jr and his fiance, Judy Murphy-Gorman, of Colchester, Vermont, and Russell's daughters, Leslie Ott, Robyn Thomas and her husband, Trevor, and Russ's son Russell III, Nancy's two daughters Tracy Malone Black and her husband Cory and Cara Malone along with his many cousins great nephews and great nieces by whom he was dearly loved.
Funeral and burial services are being handled by the R.W. Walker Funeral Home of Plattsburgh, New York and are private, but friends and extended family who wish to honor his memory are invited to a celebration of his life Sunday, December 16, 2018 from 2-4 PM, at one of his favorite locations, Dana's Rusty Anchor on Route 9 South in Plattsburgh.
