Obituary

Janice L. Boyea, age 80, loving mother of four children and an adoring grandmother to her three grandchildren passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025, with her family all around her.

Jan was born in Watertown, NY to Victor and Reba Yott on November 22,1944.  She graduated from Lyme Central School in Chaumont, NY in 1962.  She then went on and passed her Registry examination with The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in December of 1964.  She was a Registered X-Ray Technologist for well over 40 years at Alice Hyde Hospital in Malone, NY.  Jan was an integral part of Alice Hyde's Mammography Unit from 1987 until she retired in 2006.

Being with friends and family was most important to Jan.  She loved having a house full and planned the most fun gatherings filled with lots of laughter and lasting memories. She never stressed about the little things but rather enjoyed all the moments with the people she had in her life. She was very fortunate to have an incredible circle of friends who loved her dearly. She was known for her "one-liners" and loving sarcasm was always sprinkled in everything she said.  Her quick wit never left her side.

Our mom was tough as nails and had a zest for all things fun and spontaneous. She will be greatly missed by her children David (Kelly) Boyea, Michele Boyea and Randy Bushey, Jeffrey (Jane) Boyea, Anne Marie Boyea; her three grandchildren Korynn Boyea, Kaitlyn Boyea and Jacob Boyea who adored her with all their hearts. She is also survived by her sister Ann (Marvin) Bourcy; brother Tommy (Betty) Yott; several nieces and nephews

"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, a Bacardi and Ginger in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "Woo Hoo what a ride!"  This is exactly how Jan felt and she strived every day to enjoy the life she was given.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 10:00 am at St. Peter's Catholic Church 114 Cornelia St. Plattsburgh, NY 12901 with a reception to follow to continue her celebration of life.

Donation in her memory may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital. A charity near and dear to her heart.

A sincere thank you to our mom's dear friend Lori Gokey for the Thursday lunch dates she had over the past couple of years with mom.
