Jean Elizabeth
Poissant
October 3, 1928 – March 21, 2022
CHAZY – Jean Elizabeth Poissant went to heaven to dance with her beloved family on March 21, 2022.
Jean was born in Orwell, NY on October 3, 1928 to Arthur and Margaret (Haig) Nutting.
Jean was adopted by George and Lottie Bell in 1941.
She worked for many years as a phone operator for Ma Bell and later retired from Ayerst Labs.
Jean absolutely loved knitting, sports, soccer in particular. She was known for making chocolate chip cookies for the team. She never missed a game. A nameplate was made for her so she had her very own parking spot to view the game from her car.
Jean loved her family and was able to spend time with them often. What a great source of strength she gave to us all. We will miss her laughter, smile and the sparkle in her eyes.
She is survived by children, Brenda Maurice, Joseph Michael and Leah Poissant, Lynne and Mickey Khan; daughter-in-law Kelly Poissant; grandchildren, Brittany Poissant LaBounty, Jacob Khan, Devin Poitrus, David Poitrus, Seth Paige; great-grandchildren, Layla, Aliyah and Rylan, LaBounty, Sparrow and Scout Khan and several nieces and nephews.
Jean was predeceased by her husband, Peter Joseph Poissant, son, George Peter Poissant, son-in-law Timothy Maurice; her siblings, Hazel Overton, Mildred McGinn, Margorie Favre, Larry Micfler, Robert Nutting, Helen Hoffman, Frederick Ouderkirk, Charlotte Cirvuf and Marguerite Nutting.
A very special thank you to Wendy Rockwell for taking such great care of our mother.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, March 26, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00pm at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Ingraham Cemetery at a later date.
