DANNEMORA – Jean V. Shatraw, 92, of Smith Street, passed away, February 3, 2024.

She was born on November 7, 1931, daughter of Eugene and Viola (Longtin) LeClair.

Jean married Raymond Shatraw at St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora on June 17, 1950.  Ray predeceased her on May 19, 2013.

She spent her earlier years raising her family and then went to work at the Dannemora High School as a secretary.  She and Raymond spent their later years wintering in Florida.

Jean enjoyed crocheting, cross stitching, and going camping, but her greatest love in life was caring for her family.  She was known for her hospitality and loved to spend time visiting with anyone who might stop by.

Survivors include her five children, Kevin (Bonny) Shatraw, Keith (Nancy) Shatraw, Karen LeClair, Kenny (Rosemarie) Shatraw, and Kathy Shatraw;  grandchildren, Bryan James Shatraw, Patrick Shatraw, Dana Marie (Charity) Frusco, Adam (David) Shatraw, Travis (Emily) Shatraw, and Jacob (Melissa) Shatraw;  and great-grandchildren, Mae, Abagail, Aimon, Liam, Leyna, Cait, Henry, Grace, and Oliver.

Jean was predeceased by her husband;  grandson, Kevin Lee Shatraw; and siblings, Roger LeClair and Dawn LeClair Canning.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 9th  at 12:00 p.m. in St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora.  Entombment will follow in the Town of Ellenburg Mausoleum.
