CADYVILLE--- Jean E. Tamer, 84, of Route 374, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, April 2, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Plattsburgh on April 7, 1932, the daughter of Gilbert and Marguerite (Dutton) Darrah.
Jean married George Tamer in August of 1950 in Cadyville. Mr. Tamer passed away in 1992.
During her earlier years, Jean worked as a clerk at Woolworth's in Plattsburgh for over 20 years. She and her husband George had also owned and operated Tamer's Liquor Store in Cadyville. Jean enjoyed bowling and was a former member of the Fireman's Wives and Daughters Bowling League. She also loved to play bingo and take trips to the casino. Most of all, Jean loved spending time with her devoted and loving family.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Nelson and Julie Tamer of Cadyville, George "Bobby" and Kim Tamer of Cadyville, and Thomas and Robin Tamer of West Plattsburgh; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Georgia Tamer of Cadyville, Marguerite Tamer of Cadyville, Mamie and Bob Reil of Cadyville, Fay and Jay Devan of Cadyville, and Angela and Mike Ryan of Saranac; one son-in-law, Mark Reyell of Cadyville; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Jean also leaves behind her loving and devoted canine companion, Caesar.
Jean was predeceased by her husband; one daughter, Dolores Reyell; four brothers, Gilbert Darrah, Kenneth Darrah, Clarence "Bob" Darrah, and Lawrence "Dick" Darrah; and two sisters, Hazel Decker and Flora Collins.
There will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in St. James Church in Cadyville. Burial will take place at a later date in St. James Cemetery.
Donations in her memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country or to the Cadyville Fire Department.
