Obituary

WEST CHAZY - With profound sadness, we announce that Jeremiah Ryan, 97, of West Chazy, NY, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2020, surrounded by his loved ones.
Jerry was born in 1923 in Cockhill, Killarney, County Kerry, Ireland, to the late Timothy and Catherine Ryan. As the fourth of ten children, he spent his younger days helping on the family farm, riding horses, playing Gaelic football, and dancing.
In July of 1949, he journeyed "across the pond" and immigrated to the United States. As fate would have it, on a blind date while living in Yonkers, NY, he met the love of his life, Ann West of Chazy, NY. The two were married on February 14, 1956, and settled in the North Country, which he called home for the next 64 years. He worked as a route salesman for Bouyea Bakery in Plattsburgh, NY, until his retirement. He was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Parish and an active supporter of the Champlain Valley Right to Life.
Jerry was a man who delighted in the simple pleasures of life: a good joke, a hot cup of tea, attending Mass, watching Gaelic football, a comfortable recliner, woodworking, spending time with his family, and hand-feeding the local raccoons. Always a strong and steady presence to those who knew him, love, loyalty, and faith were the pillars by which he lived.
His family finds peace in the belief that upon his passing he was greeted by the saints and angels and those loved ones who preceded him in death, including his parents; siblings, Margaret (John) Allman, Patrick (Joan) Ryan, John (Catherine) Ryan, Bridget (George) Higgins, Maureen (Terrance) McDonald, Kathleen (Michael) Collins, Reverend Monsignor Timothy Ryan, and Daniel Ryan; father- and mother-in-law, Monroe and Elsie West; and brothers-in-law, William West and John Campbell.
He is survived by his beloved "Hon," Ann; sister, Hanora Campbell; sister-in-law, Kathleen Ryan; brothers-in-law, Richard (Nilah) West, Robert (Mary) West, and Bruce (Jane) West; children, Catherine (Jeffrey) Trombly, Timothy (Kathleen) Ryan, Patrick (Julie) Ryan, Margaret (Joey) Ryan, and Amanda (Christopher) Latremore; grandchildren, Dan (Marianne) Ryan, Kevin (Ashley) Ryan, Caitlin Trombly, Jeremie (Samara) Latremore, Nolan (Madelaine) Ryan, Gaelan (Gena) Trombley, Perry (Bianca) Latremore, James (Diana) Trombly, Megan (Patrick) Ogden, Devin (Tommy) Manning, Sagan Trombley, Brendan (Jenissa) Ryan, Maura Trombley, Corey Ryan, Josh Pearo, and Zach Pearo; and fifteen great-grandchildren and counting.
Rest easy, our beloved father and grandfather. We all miss you more than words can convey.
"May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;

the rains fall soft upon your fields;
and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand."
