Jerry L.
Rosenbaum
June 24, 1953 – January 18, 2026
Jerry L. Rosenbaum, 72, of Naples, FL., and Plattsburgh passed away peacefully under hospice care on Sunday, January 18, 2026 in Naples. Jerry was a proud three-time cancer survivor but in the end his body succumbed to side effects of the treatments.
He was born on June 24, 1953 in Plattsburgh the son of Burton and Joyce (Smith) Rosenbaum. He grew up in Elizabethtown and attended SUNY Plattsburgh. He married Helene Duquette on August 13, 1977 in Mooers, NY. Together they raised three children and were married just shy of 50 years.
Jerry was a real estate appraiser and owned Adirondack Appraisal Services in Plattsburgh for 40 years. He began his work in real estate in the late 1970's working for Clinton County. He then became Town of Plattsburgh Assessor in the early 1980's and eventually started his business from home working nights & weekends. Helene started helping out with clerical work and eventually got her appraiser license as well. They worked together appraising from their home office for over 30 years. In recent years they slowed down with work and spent winters in Naples where they found their Florida family through neighbors and pickleball.
While the kids were in school, you could find Jerry videotaping their various games from the press box, usually freezing his baguettes off. And when he wasn't videotaping, then he'd be driving the whole family in the RV to some far off destination, white knuckling it through traffic or some narrow mountain pass in the Rockies. One of Jerry's many hobbies was building backyard bobsled tracks for the kids, enduring multiple hernias himself, with Helene and the kids enduring multiple concussions as the test drivers. Jerry loved golf as many knew and finally realized his ultimate dream of a hole in one in February 2024. Jerry never turned down a diner breakfast or lunch and according to him a lot of work could get done over a greasy meal. Jerry was known by many names including: J-Ro, silver stash, spider monkey and mac the mechanic. Always with a smile under that silver stash and a quick-witted comment, Jerry will be missed dearly, but remembered for the truly good person that he was.
Survivors include his wife, Helene Rosenbaum; children, Aaron (Tanya) Rosenbaum, Derek (Alison) Rosenbaum, Gena (Gaelan) Trombley; Grandchildren Connor, Madeline, Krew, Oaklyn, Penn and Zeke; his brother Randy; and his canine companion Zoey (or as he'd say, his other french blond).
The family will hold a private service. A celebration of life for all friends & family is being planned for later this Spring/Summer.
