Joan Eileen Vrooman Mitchell passed away at the CVPH Medical Center on

Saturday May 21, 2022 at the age of 87. Joan was born October 21, 1934 in

Oneonta, NY the daughter of Beatrice and Harold Vrooman. Joan is survived by

her brother David Vrooman (wife Linda), daughter Nancy Mitchell Rogers, son

Charles (wife Catherine) and two grandsons Colden and Myles Mitchell. Joan

was predeceased by her husband Charles, and sister Nancy Vrooman Perretta.

Joan married the love of her life Charles in November 1956. They enjoyed 63

years together raising a family and traveling.

Joan graduated from Oneonta HS in 1952 and the Union/Albany Medical Center

School of Nursing in 1956. Joan worked as an RN at Fox Hospital in Oneonta

and St. Clare's Hospital in Schenectady. Joan later went on to earn a BS from

Empire State College. Joan worked at CVPH in Plattsburgh and retired after 20

years of service. Joan served as Activities Director on the skilled nursing unit,

Director of Volunteers and Patient Representative.

At Joan's request there will be no wake or funeral service.
