PLATTSBURGH– JoAnne P. Calkins, 81, of Flynn Avenue, passed away on June 17, 2024 with her family by her side.

She was born in Derby CT, on October 24, 1942 the daughter of Maynard and Rita (Guay) Trombly.

JoAnne graduated from Chazy Central Rural School.

She retired from Law Enforcement at the Clinton County Jail.

JoAnne married John Calkins, Jr. on May 9, 1973 in Plattsburgh.

She enjoyed playing cards, especially Pitch and Pinochle, going senior events, dining out, shopping, family dinners, holidays and going out and listening to music.

Survivors include her son, Scott Calkins and his wife, Sandra; daughter, Heather Barber; sisters, Gail Bechard and her husband, Roy, Carol LaPierre and her husband, Arnold and Kathy Ford and her husband, John; grandchildren, John Barber, Alex Barber, Zach Barber, Tyler Calkins, Josh Calkins and Gavin Calkins; and three nieces and three nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, John Calkins, Jr., her parents and sister, Linda Farrell.

A special thank you to Dr. Joel Wolkowicz for all the years of impeccable care he gave mom and to Hospice of the North Country (Becky, Ashley, Jessica) for their unwavering care and compassion during this difficult time.

A graveside service will be held privately for family in Riverside Cemetery.
