John E. Cummings, Jr.

It is with great sadness and a broken heart that I announce that my husband went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 30th, after many illnesses during the past 6 years.

John was born in Dayton, Ohio the son of John and Mary (Calderia) Cummings. He proudly served in the NAVY in Vietnam. John was a gifted musician and worship leader many years ago. He was never more content than quietly sitting playing guitar or keyboard. We often sang together. Occasionally he would teach guitar to kids that wanted to learn. John loved sports and was very competitive. We bowled, sometimes in as many as three to four leagues a week. He played on a league softball team, but playing pool was his PASSION. John was a professional pool player when we met.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jana Lee (McLenson), our beautiful daughter Laurie Lawrence, God's gift to us, our wonderful grandson Kyle and his wife Melissa, one beautiful granddaughter, Jayde Campanelli and her husband Anthony, and his sweet great granddaughter, Avelyn, four brothers, Greg, Grady, Grant and Grover, and their wives. There are also many nieces and nephews.

I will forever miss his music and the music we have sung together all these years. Rest in peace and pain free until we will meet again in heaven.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at the Mosaic Church in Cadyville. United States Navy honors will follow the funeral service.
