PLATTSBURGH – John Gadbois, 65, of Plattsburgh, passed away peacefully at home on October 1, 2026 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born in Coaticook, Quebec, Canada on March 10, 1961, son of Conrad and Bernadette (Gagnon) Gadbois.

John graduated from Plattsburgh High School in 1979. In his earlier years, John was employed with the family business, Plattsburgh Memorials. He later worked as a delivery driver for Ashline Fruit Company throughout northern New York and Vermont until their closure. John then went to work for Lakeside Container, also making deliveries throughout also throughout New York and Vermont.

John was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed listening to Classic Rock.

Those left behind to cherish his memory include his son, Benjamin “Benny” Gadbois and his wife Jamie; his mother, Bernadette Gadbois; brother, Ricky Gadbois and his wife Tamara; sisters, Ginette Gadbois and her companion Chris Lucia, and Lyne Mitchell and her husband Jeff; grandchildren, Oliver Facteau-Gadbois, Eloise Facteau-Gadbois, Maci Facteau, and Myles Facteau-Holland; and nieces and nephews, Kristen Chaffee and husband John, Emily Gadbois and her companion Dan Moorhead, and Eric Mitchell and his wife, Katelyn.

John was predeceased by his father; granddaughter, Adeline Rose Facteau-Gadbois; and nephew, Nicholas Gadbois.

There will be no services at John’s request.

Burial will take place at a later date in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Elmore SPCA or the CVPH Foundation for the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center.
