PLATTSBURGH - John W. Kirkpatrick, 89, of Cumberland Head, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2023 in Plattsburgh NY.

He was born on April 12, 1934, the son of Vern William and Alice ( Lambert) Kirkpatrick.

John was a very hard working and industrious man. He spent 31 years working for the State of NY Department of Corrections, retiring from Clinton Correctional Facility. He loved playing his bagpipes and was happy to participate in many events. He took great pride in his Crown Point hunting camp and enjoyed spending time there with family. He was an avid World War II history buff. He enjoyed planning trips for him and his wife but for those who knew him, know Germany was his favorite place in the world.

He was predeceased by his first wife Francine Swirsky, his son Gideon John Kirkpatrick (Eda Krupp), and his two brothers Robert G Kirkpatrick (Elaine Kirkpatrick), and Harold J. Kirkpatrick(Joyce Kirkpatrick).

John is survived by his wife, Joyce Kirkpatrick, his daughter Ann (Cliff) Clauson; his sister Jean Puffett; his brother Thomas ,( Polly) Kirkpatrick; his grandchildren, Sarah Clauson, Rachel Clauson, Michael Kirkpatrick and Lillian Kirkpatrick. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, September 13, 2023 from 1:00 to 4:00pm at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Funeral will follow at 4:00pm in the funeral home chapel.  Burial will be at a later date.
