Armagost
July 28, 1935 – June 4, 2025
PLATTSBURGH – Joseph E. Armagost, 89, of Irish Settlement Road, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025, at CVPH Medical Center.
Born on July 28, 1935, in Reynoldsville, Pennsylvania, Joseph was the son of Christopher and Victorine (Terlinski) Armagost. He attended Reynoldsville Winslow Joint Township High School before proudly serving in the United States Air Force. His 25-year military career spanned from 1955 until his retirement in 1980 with the rank of Master Sergeant.
While stationed overseas, Joseph met and married the love of his life, Alice Amsinger. The two were wed on November 22, 1958, in Saverne, France, and shared more than six decades of love, partnership, and family.
A proud veteran, Joseph remained active in the military community through his memberships in both the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
Joseph had a deep love for the outdoors. He found great joy in hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed bowling, watching NASCAR races, and following golf. One of his favorite pastimes was relaxing with old Western movies and TV shows.
Survivors include his loving wife, Alice Armagost; his son, Daniel Armagost and wife, Katherine (Chase); grandchildren: Genie (Armagost) Howell and husband, Austin; Joseph Armagost and wife, Heather (Edwards); Charinity Armagost; and Matthew Armagost and wife, Emily (Rooney); eight great-grandchildren; twelve nieces; and eleven nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; his brothers: Edward Armagost and wife, Phyllis (Cathers); Robert Armagost and wife, Mary Ann (McDonald); Ardell Armagost; and John Armagost; and his sisters: Sarah (Armagost) Mumford and husband, Max; Ileana (Armagost) McGarey and husband, Elwood; Ellen (Armagost) Diehl and husband, Jack; Martha (Armagost) Mennetti and husband, Frank; and Mary (Armagost) King and husband, Porter.
A memorial service honoring the life of Joseph E. Armagost will be held at a later date, with full military honors at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
