Joyce Mary
Kelley
November 9, 1935 – January 27, 2024
CHAZY – Joyce Mary (Hemingway) Kelley, 88, of Chazy, NY sadly left us on January 27, 2024. Joyce spent her final days surrounded by her family and friends, sharing memories, a couple glasses of wine and listening to classic country music.
Joyce was born on November 9, 1935, to Ernest and Esther Hemingway. She graduated from Plattsburgh High School and worked in the accounting department at Ayrest until her retirement. On August 27, 1955 she married John Kelley and they purchased a farm where they raised their five children. They loved to travel together, and after retirement they purchased a home in Florida so they could spend their winters in the sun. When their first great-grandchild was born they decided they did not want to spend their winters away from their family, and their time as snowbirds came to an end.
Of all her accomplishments in life, the one she was most proud of was her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She often said she was so glad she and John chose to buy the farmland in Chazy so that they had enough land for their children and grandchildren to build their homes on and she was able to watch her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. One of her favorite pastimes was sitting on her porch watching her great-grandchildren play outside. She always kept up with her great-grandchildren's sporting events and school accomplishments, and loved to hear about what was going on in their lives.
One of the things Joyce enjoyed most was cooking large meals for her entire extended family. She was never happier than when her house was bustling with activity and everyone was stuffed from her delicious food.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband, John, her son, Michael Kelley, and her sons-in-law Brent Wilson and Dale Jennette. Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Margaret Coryer, her children, Kathy Wilson, Karen Jennette, Sharon LePage and her husband, William LePage Jr. and James Kelley and his wife Jan, her grandchildren, Kelley Wilson-Stevens and her husband, Chad, Kristi Wilson-Moser and her husband, James, Jamie (LePage) Bulriss and her husband, Kevin, Jackie (LePage) Dashnaw and her husband, Frank, and Karina (Kelley) McCane and her husband, Jeffrey, and Carrie Wyrick, and her great-grandchildren Amelia, Zane and Tate Stevens, Luke, Maeve and Teddy Moser, Liam and Willow Bulriss and Frankie and Jackson Dashnaw and Noah and Ivy Seller.
