August 4, 1947 – May 13, 2025
PLATTSBURGH – Karen Hewson, 77, of Route 9, passed away May 13, 2025 with her loving daughter by her side.
She was born on August 4, 1947, daughter of Floyd and Clarice (Turnbull) Macey.
Karen married Ron Hewson on May 14, 1971 at St. Mary's of the Lake Church on Cumberland Head. They shared 42 wonderful years together until his passing on August 20, 2013. Karen passed one day before their 54th wedding anniversary and now they are spending it together again!
She worked as a secretary for Beekmantown Central School from 1965 to 1971. Karen then devoted her time to raising her family, whom she loved beyond measure.
She enjoyed doing crafts, especially, crocheting, sewing, and scrapbooking. She was also a master of words and loved a good game of Scrabble or Bookworm. She was an avid teddy bear collector and very interested in family genealogy. She could spend hours researching her family tree. She was a state champion bowler in high school and member of the National 600 Bowling Club. She enjoyed attending concerts with her daughter and cherished their many Nashville adventures.
Survivors include her daughter, Kelli Hewson; son, Brad (Amy) Hewson; two brothers-in-law, Calvin (Cassandra) Hewson and Roger Hewson; sister-in-law Shirley Schuler; grandchildren, Riley Hewson and Bailey Hewson; two nieces; two nephews and her beloved fur babies, Sadie and Frankie.
Karen was predeceased by her parents; husband, Ron; and special cousin, Irma Hall.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 18th at 1pm at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 2pm in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will take place at a later date in Riverside Cemetery in Plattsburgh.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Hope Lodge in Burlington, VT or your favorite pet charity in honor of her love of animals.
