Plattsburgh- Kenneth D. Besaw, Jr., 74 of Plattsburgh, passed away at his home on Thursday, July 25, 2024.

Ken was born in Plattsburgh on August 23, 1949, the son of Kenneth and Mildred (Duval) Besaw.

He moved from Plattsburgh to pursue his love of music.  He spent many years living in the Troy, Schenectady, NY area where he played in various bands.  He earned a master's degree in music at the College of St. Rose.  While he was versed at playing any instrument, he adored playing the trumpet and piano most.  Ken had a beautiful voice and could sing in any genre.

Eventually Ken moved back to Plattsburgh to spend his career as a music teacher for Peru Central School. Ken loved gardening, reading, watching football, debating (a.k.a. arguing his point), golfing, and spending time with family and friends.  After retiring Ken spent many winters in Florida enjoying the sun and oyster bars.  Ken was a very generous and thoughtful person.

Ken is survived by his Sister-in-Law Gail Besaw of Plattsburgh; his nephew, Scott Besaw and his wife Jill of Altona; his niece, Wendie (Besaw) Bishop and her husband Daniel of Morrisonville. He is also survived by his 3 great nieces, Brittney (Besaw) Sheffer and her husband Adam, Chelsey (Besaw) and her husband Keon Jahanbakhsh, and Rihanna Besaw; his 2 great nieces, Makenna, Kynslee and great nephew Layten Sheffer.

Ken was predeceased by his beloved parents Kenneth and Mildred Besaw and brother Terry Besaw.

Ken gave donations to many organization but one that he was most passionate about is St. Jude's.  Ken's family is requesting any donation be made to St. Jude's in memory of him.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 31st from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home.
