PLATTSBURGH – Kenneth I. Davies, 96, passed away February 28, 2024.

He was born in Standish, NY on June 17, 1927, son of Ralph and Carolyn (Caswell) Davies.  He was raised under the loving care of Louis and Melvina Powers; who introduced him to the Catholic faith, which continued to be a source of strength for Kenneth throughout his entire life.

Kenneth married Hilda Canning on September 2, 1948, at St. Bernard's Church in Lyon Mountain.  Hilda predeceased him on July 17, 2007.

Kenneth served in the US Army during World War II.

He retired from Saranac Central School where he worked for many years as a Physical Education teacher, Athletic Director and coach, as well as a beloved Guidance Counselor.  He also served as Town Supervisor in the Town of Saranac for several years.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Denise Davies; two daughters and sons-in-law, Christina and Alan Davies, and Jessica and Robert Charland; daughter-in-law, Debra Davies; 10 grandchildren, Tara Cangè, Kathleen Hamilton, Kenny, Nic, Adam, Lissa, Derek and Owen Davies; Emily Liberty and Hannah Charland; several great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Kenneth was predeceased by his son Kenneth A. Davies; and also his cherished friend, Frenchie Siskavich, whom he met in kindergarten and remained friends with for over 90 years.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 3rd from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 4th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernard's Church in Lyon Mountain.  The mass will be followed by a reception at the Lyon Mountain American Legion.  Burial will take place in the spring in Church of the Assumption Cemetery in Redford.
