WEST CHAZY - Lauria M. Weightman, 98, formerly of O'Neil Road, passed away, May 4 th 2020.
She was born in Ellenburg on December 8, 1921, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Ezro) Gagnier.
Lauria married Ernest Weightman and he predeceased her on October 9 th , 1985.
She worked for many years as a clerk at M. H. Fishman Co. variety store and also enjoyed being an apple picker at Chazy Orchards for several seasons.
Lauria loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and a friend to all who knew her.
Survivors include daughters, Beverly Boas and her companion Bill Connelly and Vivian (Andrew) Tousignant, both of West Chazy. Daughter-in-law Donna Weightman and two previous son-in-laws Wesley Wright and Richard Boas. Ten grandchildren, Steve (Krista) Tousignant, Alan Tousignant-Lynn Christenson, Kim Turner, Patti Wright-Janine Dupras, Brian (Lisa) Tousignant, Lisa (Brian) Menard, Daryl (Todd) Bourgeois, Susan Tousignant-Aric Peery, Bobbi Jo (Jerry) Schwetz, and Becky (Jay) Forkey. Fourteen great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, also two sister-in-laws Betty Gagnier, Mildred Percy and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one son Dale Weightman; brothers Rene Gagnier, Joseph Gagnier, Raymond Gagnier, Donald Gagnier and Orphir Thibault; sisters Clara Palmer, Eva Tavenier, Simone Carter, Laura Trombley, Rose Lapier, Leona Gioiosa and Joyce Stone.
Lauria was an avid outdoor enthusiast, who loved long walks, and enjoyed watching deer in their natural habitat. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph's Church. She was an enthusiastic card player to the end. What brought Lauria the most joy was spending time with family and friends.
The family will greet guests on Thursday, August 20th, from 9:30 to 11:00am at St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy. A funeral Mass will follow at 11:00am. Social distancing and face coverings will be required.
