CHAMPLAIN – Loney (Jonnie) M. Lushia, Sr., 78, of Gamlaw Road, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at his home with his loving wife Susan and family by his side .
He was born in Plattsburgh, on May 22, 1944 the son of Charles and Edith (Baker) Lushia, Sr.
Jonnie attended Chazy Central School and lived most of his life in the Chazy area. He would later marr y the love of his life, Susan Paren t on July 17, 1965 in Westport, NY. They were married for 57 years.
Jonnie worked as a carpenter for West Brothers Construction in Chazy and also did pain t ing and lawn care. He was known as a " Jack of All Trades " .
Survivors include his wife, Susan of Champlain; sons, John Lushia and his wife Kathy of Champlain and Douglas Lushia and his companion, Tina Larrabee of SC; daughters, Melissa and her husband Timothy Frederick and Melody and her husband Scott Martino all of Plattsburgh and Tina and her husband Chris Brothers of SC; three brother s , Gerald Lushia and his wife Helen of VA , Frank Lushia of Syracuse, NY and Larry Lushia and his wife Emily of GA.
20 grandchildren, 3 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents ; brothers, Maynard, Emery, Charles, Robert, Brooke and Clyde ; sisters, Helen, Joan and Margaret ; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Jonnie loved spending time with his family and friends, He enjoyed his hobbies as well as going to yard sales . He will be remembered best for his love of music and the way he would sing every day . In honor of Jonnie and his love for family gatherings , cookouts and playing horseshoes there will be a celebration of life on May 20 th 2023 at 145 Gamlaw Rd, Champlain, NY at 2:00 pm, all are welcome.
