Giguere
March 19, 1925 – June 1, 2019
PLATTSBURGH— Loren P. Giguere, 94, of Route 3, passed away June 1, 2019.
He was born in Cadyville, NY on March 19, 1925, son of William and Agnes (King) Giguere.
Loren graduated from MAI in 1943. He then enlisted in the United States Army and was Honorably Discharged in 1946 after serving overseas for 18 months during the Battle of the Bulge.
Loren married the former Veronica "Ronnie" Rascoe on August 31, 1947. Ronnie passed away on January 16, 2010.
Loren was a precision carpenter who spent many years crafting various items including staircases, cabinetry and much more. He also worked for several years as a carpenter for the New York State Department of Corrections until his retirement. Loren was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 155, the Elks Lodge #621, the VFW Post 125, the Boy Scouts of America, and the Business Agent Carpenters and Joiners Union #125. Loren was also proud to have been a Veteran on the North Country Honor Flight.
He enjoyed fishing in his spare time and making rosaries.
Survivors include one brother, Desmond Giguere of Plattsburgh; one sister, Theresa Rasdall of Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews from over four generations.
Loren was predeceased by his wife and two brothers, Gerald Giguere and Richard Giguere.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 4thfrom 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in St. John's Church in Plattsburgh. Entombment will follow in Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens, Tom Miller Road, Plattsburgh.
Donations in his memory may be made to the SPCA or the North Country Honor Flight.
