CHAZY - Marilyn M. Dumas, 78, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2021, with her loving husband Bob and her family at her side.
Marilyn was born on November 2, 1942, in Plattsburgh, NY to George and Ruth (Lapier) Coon. Her early years were spent with her sisters and brother on a farm. When she was 12, her family moved to Chazy, NY where she spent most of her life in the family home.
She married her first husband, Luddie Kleinschmidt in 1961 and had two wonderful sons, Paul and Dodd. The family lived for a brief time on Long Island before returning to Chazy.
Marilyn married the love of her life, Robert F. Dumas in 1989. After a fulfilling career she retired in 1998 to pursue her passions for gardening and cooking. She took great pride in her beautifully planned and manicured gardens. Marilyn's cooking skills were legendary – she always had delicious to-go bags for her friends and relatives to take home.
She is survived by her husband Bob, sons Paul Kleinschmidt of Chazy and Jason Dumas of West Chazy, sister Marge (Royce) Pombrio and her sister-in-law Gail Coon, both of Crystal River, FL, several nieces and nephews and many treasured friends.
Marilyn is predeceased by her parents, George and Ruth Coon, son Dodd Kleinschmidt, brother Jim Coon and sister Shirley Brean Gimber, as well as nephew Jeff Coon and niece Karen Crooker.
The viewing will be held at the RW Walker Funeral Home on Monday, September 6, 2021 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church in Chazy, NY. Due to new Covid-19 regulations there will be no reception after the mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the CVPH FitzPatrick Center in Plattsburgh, NY or the Chazy Volunteer Fire Department.
