Marjorie
Camfield
September 10, 2023
PLATTSBURGH – Marjorie Camfield went to be with the Lord Sunday, September 10, 2023 at CVPH.
She was born in Saranac, the youngest child of Sol and Mabel (Collins) Beauchemin.
Marge always had a drive to improve herself. After graduation from Salaz Academy, she attended Kanaly Cosmetology School. After graduating, she worked in various cities before returning home and opening her own salon in Saranac, then Dannemora. While doing hair, she decided to go to college to get a teaching degree and graduated Magna Cum Laude. At graduation, SUNY honored Marge and her daughter, who graduated with a Master's degree the same year. Marge then took a teaching job at Rensselaer BOCES and moved the family to Troy. While teaching all week, working in her salon on weekends, she also became a NYS Board Examiner for Cosmetology.
Marge loved to throw parties any occasion would do! Catered dinners with a band and dancing or skits she wrote with family as the cast. She loved people and entertaining them. She also loved her home and decorating it for every season and holiday. Her favorite though, was Christmas. Every room in her large house was bedecked. Nine full size Christmas trees, garland, life-size Santas were only the start.
Marge married the love of her life, Edward Camfield on August 18, 1951. They enjoyed 55 years of marriage and did everything together until Ed's passing on September 14, 2006. She was his Queen, a title she rightly deserved.
Marge is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Larry Alphonso, along with many nieces and nephews.
Marge was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Ed, her sister and brother-in-law, Eileen and Art Tacy, her brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert "Joe" (Sarah) Beauchemin, Norman (Toni) Beauchemin and Arnold "Diddy" (Jean) Beauchemin.
We wish to give many thanks to all the angels at Pine Harbour, especially Shelly, that helped Mom in the twilight of her life. A special thanks to Dr. Sutton and Luke on R4 at CVPH for their compassionate care.
