Keene Valley - Mark P. "Marky Mark" Guennel, affectionately known to his friends and colleagues as "Marky Mark", passed away peacefully on the morning of August 24, 2020. Mark was surrounded by his family as he departed his mortal life. A military "brat" having lived in several states during his childhood, Mark graduated from Peru Central High School in 1983. Following high school, Mark worked at the Lake Placid Hilton for several years prior to moving to Plattsburgh where he worked at the American Legion Post 1619.  He spent several winters working on the snowmaking crew at Whiteface Mountain. Mark joined the Ausable Club as a seasonal employee for the 2012 season and worked every subsequent season on the Golf Course Maintenance crew until his passing. Mark loved working at the Club and took great pride in his work.

Mark is survived by his parents Randolph E. and Elaine J. Guennel of Gilbertsville, KY, his sister Sherry A. Guennel-Muehl and her husband George of St. Albans, VT.

He is also survived by his five children: Jason M. Guennel, Christina M. Guennel, Kara-Lyn Guennel, Briony L. Guennel, and Hunter J. Guennel. He also has one grandson, Brantley S. Giambruno, and expectant grandson Caiden Guennel.

There are no planned visitation or services. After cremation, Mark will be returning to Kentucky with his parents. A tree in Mark's memory will be subsequently planted at the Ausable Club.
