Mary "Judy"
Gittins
August 8, 1939 – March 4, 2025
Dannemora – Mary "Judy" Gittins, 85, went to meet the Lord on March 4, 2025. Although an unexpected loss, she was always ready to go home. Judy was born in Plattsburgh on August 8, 1939 the daughter of Everett and Mary (Kearney) Peno. Judy graduated from Saranac High School in 1957. She was a woman of strong faith, loved animals deeply and enjoyed helping the less fortunate.
Judy's passion for horses started when she was 10 and her father won a pony in a contest. She enjoyed riding horses which led her to pursue a career in horse racing, where she operated the hospitality suites at both Tampa Bay Downs and Monmouth Park Racetrack. She formed lifelong friendships and shared her enthusiasm for the sport. Judy not only had a love for horses, she held a special place in her heart for Jack Russell Terriers. Her dogs, Luna and Trouble were always by her side and she found comfort in their companionship.
Judy had a zest for life and her big smile would capture anyone that met her. She had a unique ability to lift the spirits of everyone around her, frequently offering genuine compliments and words of encouragement. She cherished family gatherings, and loved gambling at the casino. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Her faith was central to her life and she prayed the rosary daily, finding peace and strength in her devotion.
She is survived by her devoted partner, Bobby Drollette; son, Jack Nemier and daughter-in-law, Judy; her grandson, Max and his wife Angela; her granddaughter Anna; daughter, Patricia Nemier and her husband, Scott Smith; sister, Penny Mousseau, and her husband, Ron; nieces Christina, Kaley, McKenzie; and nephew Michael.
