Michael T. Capen, 70, of Hugh Herron Road, Saranac, passed away on May 21, 2025 at his home.

Michael was born at Sampson Air Force Base, Geneva, New York on August 12, 1954 the son of Albert and Valerie (Carmer) Capen, Jr.

Mike was brought up in the Grand Island, NY area. He served in the Air Force. After leaving the Air Force, he worked as a mechanic and a logger for many years.

Mike had a passion for speed and things with wheels. He has self taught talent for repairing things. He enjoyed racing, automobiles, motorcycles and go kart racing with his daughters.

Mike spent many weekends competing at horse shows and team penning events with his horses and his family.

Mike was passionate about wood working and a bit of a perfectionist. He created beautiful pieces and repaired many things from scratch. His solutions were often the 'old-school' ways his grandfather taught him.

Mike belonged to the Siberian Rod & Gun Club and served as President during his membership. He was formative in the clubs development.

Mike was a proud and devoted Grampy to his grandchildren and cherished the time that he spent with them.

Michael is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ann Capen; daughters, Cortney (Jacob) Caflin and Heather ( Nikolai ) Martinovic; grandchildren, Noah, Audrey and Clarence; mother-in-law, Helen G. Thompson; brother, Daniel (Edith) Capen and several nieces and nephews; many cousins, and his faithful companion, Bailey.

Mike is predeceased by his parents Albert and Valerie (Carmer) Capen, Jr.
