SARANAC – Michael A. Collins, 74, passed away April 28, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Plattsburgh on November 22, 1947, son of Arthur H. and Margaret M. (Baker) Collins.

Michael served in the United States Navy from 1967 to 1969 and after being honorably discharged, he married the love of his life, Katherine Vann on July 18, 1970 in the Church of the Assumption in Redford.

He worked at Georgia Pacific for many years until his retirement in 2000.

Michael was an excellent golfer and enjoyed going camping and having long conversations with his family and friends.  Above all else, what Michael enjoyed most was going hunting with his beloved granddaughter "Bug".

Survivors include his wife Katherine Collins;  daughter, Greta Barber;  granddaughter, Allie "Bug" Barber;  sister, Linda (Jim) Sandefur;  sister-in-law, Donna Collins;  nieces and nephews, Darrin (Angie) Sandefur, Lisa (Paul) Rivera, Rheta (Mike) Recore, Josh Vann, and Bryan Urich;  and many cousins.

Michael was predeceased by his son, Chad Collins;  daughter, Cassie Collins;  brother, David Collins;  and nephews, Joel Sandefur and Jordan Vann.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 4 ^th at 12:00 p.m. in the Church of the Assumption in Redford.
