PLATTSBURGH- Michael J. "Mikey" Gonyea, Sr., 66, of Foxfire Drive, passed away, Monday, September 30, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Plattsburgh, on June 6, 1953 the son of Gerald and Rita (Buskey) Gonyea.

Mikey graduated from Beekmantown Central School. He was employed by Plattsburgh Municipal Lighting Department until his retirement.

Michael married Patti Gagnier on February 22, 2007 in Plattsburgh.

He was an avid Yankee's fan. Mikey enjoyed woodcarving and motorcycle riding, but most of all spending time with his beautiful grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Patti Gonyea of Plattsburgh; sons, Michael (Liz) Gonyea and Daniel Gonyea of Plattsburgh; daughters, Staycie Gonyea and Joe McAskill of Mansfield, MA, Jennifer (Adam) Bennett of Ellenburg Depot and Katie (Matthew) Palkovic of Plattsburgh; brothers, Gary (Priscilla) Gonyea of Plattsburgh and Steven (Mary ) Gonyea of Salt Lake City, UT; grandchildren, Kylie Vassar, AlannaVassar, Lia Bennett, Elliott Bennett, Lucas Gonyea, Tabitha Gonyea, Jackson Palkovic, Brett Gonyea and Alexis Aiello and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Gerald and Rita Gonyea.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2019 from 4 to 6 pm at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:00 am at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country or Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
