Michael S. Haley died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on November 10, 2022 at UVM hospital in Burlington.

Michael was born in Plattsburgh on June 7, 1938 to Judge Sherlock E. Haley and Dorothy Hayes Haley and was the youngest of four children.  He attended St Johns High School and graduated from Marrionappolis Academy in Connecticut.  During his military service, he was stationed in Korea before returning home to Plattsburgh, where he graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh.  Even though Michael worked in social services, he continued a career with the Plattsburgh City School District.  Michael taught social studies before moving into administration as an Assistant Principal and truancy officer.  In his youth, Michael enjoyed hiking, golf, poker, reading and was an avid N.Y. Giants fan.

He married Carol Romanelli in 1965 and had three children; Christopher, who predeceased him, Meegan Haley of Gunnison, CO and her partner Larry Ryan, Amanda Haley Beaudette and her husband Steve.  Michael is survived by his wife Carol, her two sisters Gloria and Monica, his sister Kathleen Haley Peters of Arkansas, sister-in-law Marion Haley of Florida, 15 nieces and nephews and a beloved ex-daughter-in-law Tristina Gregware and family.  Michael also had five adored grandchildren, Erica and Adriana Haley,  Juliana, Lucas and Nathan Christopher Beaudette.

Michael will be remembered for his kind and loving nature as well as his penchant for jokes and pranks.  Michael's family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at UVM Hospital for their kindness and care.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday November 16, 2022 from 3:00 - 4:30 PM at R.W. Walker Funeral Home at 69 Court Street in Plattsburgh.  An informal service will follow at 4:30 PM.  A reception will be held at the Butcher Block banquet room at 5pm.

Michael's family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to Elmore SPCA in Peru or to the American Heart Association.
