Mckinney
February 1, 1932 – August 10, 2019
Milburn Eldee McKinney Sr. of Ormond Beach, Fla., passed away at home under the care of Hospice. Born Feb. 1,1932, in Egeria, W.Va., he was the son of the late Wiley McKinney and Violet Green McKinney.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jean LaVigne of Chazy, N.Y., and a brother, Jack McKinney of Rock, W.Va.
Out of high school, Milburn enlisted in the Navy and was a submariner. While visiting his sisters in Chazy, he met Mary Lou Russo, who was to become his wife of 64 yrs. He entered the Dept. of Corrections in 1956 and was a correction officer for 32 years, retiring in 1988. He had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening and growing different fruits. He also liked woodworking and made many nice pieces. He loved fishing the Saranac River for trout. Later in life, he took the time to restore a 1936 Cord that he had owned since the early 60's.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Russo McKinney, 3 sons, Terry McKinney and wife Grace of Ormond Beach, Fla., Frank McKinney and wife Lynn of Spartanburg, S.C., Bosco McKinney and wife Karen of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; one daughter, Cindy Sibert of Belleville, Ill.; 5 grandchildren, Danielle Wiedmaier, Matthew McKinney, Morgan McKinney, Andrew Knef and Jessie Huck; 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by 5 brothers - Wiley Mckinney and wife Gayla of Zolfo Springs, Fla., Bill McKinney and wife Maurice of Orlando, Fla., James McKinney and wife Donna of Princeton, W.Va., Weldon McKinney and wife Judy of Rock, W.Va., and Chester McKinney and wife Debra of Valpraiso, Ind.; also one sister, Betty Green of Chazy, N.Y.
Visitation will be held Monday, September 16thfrom 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home.
Entombment will be in Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens, Plattsburgh.
