PLATTSBURGH, NY – Noemí "Mama" Sotomayor Rivera, 87, of 8 Bushey Boulevard, Plattsburgh, NY, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022 with her daughter by her side.

She was born on February 15, 1934 in Camuy, Puerto Rico, daughter of Ramon and Serafina Pilar (Rivera) Sotomayor. "Mama" Noemí was predeceased by her parents, and her siblings, Caesar Sotomayor Rivera, Celia S. Green (Sotomayor), Eldermira "Mirín" Cruz (Sotomayor), Elsa Sotomayor Rivera, and Ramon "Junior" Sotomayor Rivera.

Survivors include daughter, Myra I. Colmenero-Macmillan (Doug) of Saranac, NY, sons, Rodney Colmenero (Connie) of San Antonio TX, and Manfred "Manny" Colmenero ( Cathy) of Lawton, OK.

On June 11, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., a Celebration of Life Memorial Service for "Mama" Noemí will be held at R.W. Walker Funeral Home. We encourage those attending to wear bright colors, tropical prints and boldly decorated fedoras/hats in her honor. For those unable to attend in person, a Zoom link will be provided for those who wish to attend virtually, and a link to the recorded service will be posted at a later date.
