*Updated Service Information for Mr. Oswald J. Carter: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00PM (Noon) on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Church of the Assumption in Redford. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Oswald J. Carter, 83, of Bressette Road, Saranac passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023 at the CVPH Medial Center.
He was born in Troy, NY on October 12, 1939 the son of Edmund Carter and Dorothy Marguerite Collins. Oswald was raised by his grandparents, Lafayette Collins and Emma Caron from Redford as were his brothers until legal age.
Ozzie stayed with his father to help out with the farm along with working for a construction crew.
Shortly after, he met a lady in a barn that was located on True Brook Road in Saranac. It was a short courtship between him and Annamay, three months later he married her and they were married for 44 years when his wife passed away in 2004.
Later in life Ozzie was employed through Anchor Motor Freight in Champlain until he retired. He decided to own his business, Carter Trucking until his sons passed away and decided to retire again.
Oswald was an avid collector of model tractor-trailers and rifles. Earlier in his life he loved fishing and hunting, his Bud Light and homemade moonshine.
He is survived by his daughter, Juliann Carter, Shirley Fedler who he loved like another daughter of his own; brother, Robert Carter and his wife, Jean of Troy; sister, Evelyn Whitney of Buffalo; sister-in-law, Willy Carter of AZ; brother-in-law, Richard Bechore of Lake Placid; grandchildren, Ronnie and Michelle LaValley, Heather and Cody Graves, Hilary LaValley, Jennifer Reyell, Michael Barber, Alishia LaDue, Shannon Carter, Jr., Joshua Carter, Selena Carter, John and Mandy Fountain; great-grandchildren, Taylor LaValley, Sylas Clinebell, Marrissa LaValley Kennedy, Ayden Kennedy, Atlys Lashway; special niece "Mudduck" Theresa and many more great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Annamay Bechore Carter; sons, Shannon J. Carter, Sr. and Shawn E. Carter; brothers, Lewis and Joseph Carter; brothers-in-law, William Bechore, Harold Bechore and Fred Whitney and sisters-in-law, Rosalie Synder and Carolyn Hare.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00PM (Noon) on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Church of the Assumption in Redford. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
