Patrick (Pat) F. O'Brien, 95, of Beekman Street, Plattsburgh, NY passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2024.
He was born in Dromcollogher, County Limerick, Ireland on March 9, 1929, the son of John and Catherine (Aherne) O'Brien. In addition to Ireland, Pat also resided in London, England, New York City, West Chazy and Plattsburgh, NY.
Pat married the former Elizabeth (Betty) Tacy on August 12, 1961, at St. Mary's Church in Queens, NY. Survivors include his wife, Betty; sons, Kevin O'Brien, Robert (Sara) O'Brien, William (Donna) O'Brien, Richard (Dina) O'Brien and Dennis O'Brien; daughter, Karen O'Brien; seven grandchildren: Allan, Julia, Kelley, Shaun, Kyle, Kayleen, and Kerstyn O'Brien; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Pat was predeceased by his parents; brothers, James, Edward, and John O'Brien; sister, Catherine Graham; daughter-in-law, Alana O'Brien; and grandson, Stephen O'Brien.
Pat was employed for 23 years in operational maintenance at Plattsburgh State University College, retiring in 1991. Prior employers include the Ford Motor Company in London, England, the Manhattan State Hospital, and the Manhattan and Bronx Transportation Authority.
Pat was a devout member of the Catholic Church and was a prior member of the Knights of Columbus in NYC.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, card playing, reading, and watching sports on TV, especially golf. Pat enjoyed spending winters in Bradenton, FL playing shuffleboard, cards, and bocce.
At the request of the family there will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will take place in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Chateaugay. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
