In Loving Memory of Philip E. Sanger

Philip Edwin Sanger, of Chazy, NY, passed away on September 17, 2026, he was 95.

He was born on March 24th 1931, in Ingraham, NY, to his parents, Walter Sanger and Alice Harris.

Two years after high school, he graduated from Alfred Ag and Tech. He returned home to his family farm.

Philip also worked at Ayerst Labs in Rouses Point for a short time. This taught him that he really didn’t want to spend time away from the farm. In the spring of 1954, he married the love of his life, Alice Lou Rasmussen. They bought their own farm in 1958, and the following 30 years were spent raising kids, cows and crops. All of which he enjoyed greatly. In 1985, disaster raised its ugly head and they lost their barn and cows to fire. After the mess was cleaned up, and he decided not to rebuild, Philip went to work for Vermont Transit of Greyhound bus lines as a driver. He drove regular runs in New England, NY and Canada. It was very enjoyable work.

After he retired from the bus company, he collected another antique tractor, a John Deere “D” built by women in 1942. Philip found some plows to go with it and plowed many fields, including driving it all the way to Peru, NY and plowing a field for Mary at Dimock Farms.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife Alice Lou, brothers Benjamin Sanger and David Sanger.

Survivors include his children, Lynn Sanger Greene and her husband Mark, Jeff Sanger, Mary Sanger Dimock and her husband, Bruce. Much to his enjoyment there are many grandchildren and great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. In many ways he was a big kid himself.

He will be greatly missed.

There will be calling hours and a short service on Saturday, November 7, 2026 at R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh with burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery in Chazy, NY. Service times will be announced in the coming days.
