Quantock
February 1, 1938 – November 8, 2023
Mrs. Phyllis Mary Quantock, age 85 of Plattsburgh, NY, passed away Wednesday evening, 8 November 2023 at Champlain Valley Medical Center, Plattsburgh, New York. A graveside ceremony will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 am at The Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
Phyllis was born on 1 February 1938 in Plattsburgh, NY to the late Raymond and Viola Gilroy. She was married to Major (Retired) Earl G. Quantock and was an Army spouse who lived with her husband and three children at various military installations located in Texas, Kentucky, New Jersey, California, New York, Virginia, and Germany. After they retired from the military, they returned to the Plattsburgh Community where her husband taught at Mount Assumption High School and Phyllis was a bank teller at Champlain National Bank.
Phyllis was a loving and caring wife and mother who raised her three children during Earl's service which included 2 tours to Vietnam, where in 1964 Earl was critically wounded in Vietnam. Phyllis not only nursed her husband back good health, but provided a safe and caring environment for her 3 sons to grow up in while her husband completed his 26 years of service to his Country. The foundation she fostered would provide the environment where two of her sons would go on the serve our country for over 30 years and her youngest son would serve the Plattsburgh area his entire life.
Phyllis is survived by her son, LTG (RET) David Quantock, Orlando, FL; MG (RET) Mark Quantock, Austin, TX; and Mr. Eric Quantock, Plattsburgh, NY; 8 grandchildren, David Jr, Shannon, Christopher, Christian, Heather, Jordan, Ethan and Cody. In addition, she has 11 great grandchildren. The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers for our Mother. We appreciate all those that have called, sent texts, visited her, and more through this journey. We especially would like to thank those that gave Mother so much love and care along this path, they are Meadowbrook Rehabilitation Center and CVPH, Medical Center.
