DANNEMORA – Raymond A. Martin of Smith Street, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2022. He was 88 years old.

Born in Dannemora, NY on July 13, 1934, the son of Raymond and Edith (Joyall) Martin, and the youngest of 5 children.

Raymond graduated from Dannemora High School and went on to serve in the United States Air Force from 1953-1957.

He married Barbara Cooper on November 23, 1957, in Dannemora.

Raymond was employed as a Corrections Officer for 33 years, retiring as a Lieutenant at Clinton Correctional.

Raymond was a member of the American Legion, and the Siberian Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting camp, fishing, and especially his extensive travel with Barbie.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Barbara Martin; four children, Gail Sullivan and husband Daniel of Ithaca, NY; Jeff Martin of Baltimore; Susan Martin and companion, Eric Wood of Plattsburgh; and Carol d'Estienne and husband, Christopher of Scotia, NY; sister, Lucille Davidson; grandchildren, Matthew Sullivan, Meghan Kelly, Joshua Blaise, Alina and Michelle Martin, and Olivia and Arianna Delos.

He was predeceased by his sister, Rita Slattery, and brothers, Morris and Tony Martin.

A graveside service will be planned for the spring at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Dannemora.
