Obituary

MORRISONVILLE – Regina Carin Gero, 77, of Arrowhead Drive, passed away, August 3, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on September 25, 1945, daughter of Donald and Marion (Call) Crowningshield.

Regina worked in Gloversville, NY assisting in the operations of running an adult home, Dexter Home for Adults.  She was an advocate and confidant to all of the residens withing the facility and they loved her dearly.

In 1984, Regina and her husband Harold moved back to their hometown of Ausable Forks and Regina worked as a private home caregiver to the elderly, as well as working at several hotels and motels within the Adirondacks.

In 1993, New York State DMV withdrew her driving privileges as her eyesight worsened, and she became legally blind.  From that point forward, Regina took care of her husband, her home, and her family.  She helped with cleaning the church she attended, volunteered for any functions, and if possible, anything asked of her, she would do.

Regina loved being with and helping her aging mother, Marion Crowningshield.  She would spend days at a time with her until Marion's death in 2009.

Regina's love for the Lord and faith in him, was unwavering.  She loved her church and all of her church family.  She was known as the church grandma, and lovingly became a grandma to many.  The last five years, Regina's granddaughters, Leeandra, Shyann, and Jeantana, were very much a big part of her life, not only as her grandchildren, but as her caregivers.  She loved her girls.

Though Regina could not physically do much in her last few years, she was still helping others by listening to them, and unconditionally loving everyone.  Her forgiveness was endless.

Regina was a true gem, and will be missed by many.

Survivors include her daughters, Elaine Allen and Lisa Jean Crowningshield;  step-children, Melissa Gero, Jo Lynn Moister, Eva Gero, Harold Gero, Jr., Yolanda Decker, and Reginald Poissant;  sister, Ruth Sprague;  brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Eric Garrow, Barbara Garrow (whom always stayed in touch with her, and never forgot her birthday), and Gary Reynolds;  grandchildren, Leeandra Lynn Crowningshield, Shyann Carin Corwningshield, Jeantana Elaine Crowningshield, Andrew Allen and Glen Allen;  great-grandson, Adonijah Micah Archer, whom she referred to as her "Little Man";  beloved adopted great-granddaughter, Arabella Blair Sophia Walker;  as well as many nieces nephews and numerous more step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service for Regina will be held on Saturday, August 26th at 2:00 p.m. at the Jay Central Cemetery, Route 22, Jay, NY.
