PERU - Richard R. Desautels "Fly", 74 of Hillside Drive, passed away, September 6, 2020 surrounded by his loved ones at his home. He was born in Levis, Quebec, Canada on March 29,1946, son of Roland and Louise (Thivierge) Desautels.

Richard married the love of his life, Valerie Lyons in 1976 after a short courtship as he knew the moment they met that they were soulmates. Together they raised a family while living in Canada. After retiring from AT & T as President of the Eastern Canada Division, the family moved to the United States to open up Delta Marketing International in Plattsburgh, NY in 1998.

He served in the Canadian Airforce and was an avid golfer. His love for speed also led him to enjoy racing cars in his younger years. Richard loved to boat with the grandchildren and truly cherished his time with family.

Survivors include his wife, Valerie Desautels; son, Jonathan Desautels of Fairfield, CT, (Rebecca LePage and her children Grace, Sam and Max LePage) and grandchildren, Caroline and Griffin; daughter, Stephanie Desautels of Plattsburgh, NY (Charlie Lawfer) and grandchildren Mackenzie, Kiara, and Bryce;   three siblings, Lucette (Dave) Savage, Suzanne (Gord) Cabel, and Jacques (Johanne) Desautels; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
