MORRISONVILLE - Richard L. Downey, Jr. 49, of Mason Street, lost his seven- year courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, October 2, 2016.

He was born in Lakewood, NJ on June 16, 1967 the son of Richard and Grace (Delp) Downey, Sr.

Richard worked as a mechanic at Bow Industries in Plattsburgh for many years until his illness no longer allowed him to.

He was an avid NASCAR fan and especially enjoyed spending time with his children. Richard was known for his big heart and was loved by all who knew him.

Survivors include his son, Zachary Downey and daughter, Kimberly Downey both of Plattsburgh; father, Richard Downey, Sr. of Morrisonville; grandmother, Frieda Delp of Morrisonville; his canine companion, Max and several cousins, aunts and uncles.

He was predeceased by his mother, Grace Downey on September 26, 2015 and his grandparents, Raymond and Edith Downey.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place in Hilltop Cemetery in Redford.

Memorial donations may be made to the Morrisonville United Methodist Church.
