CADYVILLE: Richard S. Dutton, 82, of Rt. 3 died Saturday morning October 3, 2009 at Meadowbrook Nursing Home. He was born in Cadyville on July 9, 1927 the son of Stephen and Nellie (Vaughn) Dutton. He married the former Florence Pitcher in Northport, Long Island on September 23, 1951. Mrs. Dutton died in 2002. Richard was a World War II Army veteran and a member of American Legion Post 1619. Following the War, he worked for 27 years at Pilgrim State Hospital on LI, retiring as a ward supervisor. Mr. Dutton was a taxi driver for Quinlans Taxi in East Northport, LI for several years. He was also a bus driver for Saranac Central School as well as owner and operator of Finnans Fun Farm in Cadyville for 20 years, retiring in 1990. Richard was an avid Mets Fan and enjoyed talking about baseball. Survivors include a daughter, Lee-Ann Dutton, of Cadyville and her fianc, Jerry Bova of Ogdensburg; a son, Charles Byron Dutton, Sr. and his wife, Gail of Virginia Beach, VA; two brothers, James Dutton and his wife Sandra of Mesa, AZ and Morris Dutton and his wife, Paulette of Pennsicola, FL; four sisters, Norma Hughes of Shirley, NY, MaryAnn Burke of Plattsburgh, Ruth MacGregor of Islip Terrace, LI and Nancy Saucier of Cadyville; four grandchildren, Charles Chuck Dutton, Jr. and his wife Jennifer, Richard Rich Dutton II, Stephanie Dutton and Stephen Waldron; three great grandchildren, Alexis, Nicholas and Jaden Dutton, and several nieces and nephews. One brother, Roger Dutton and two sisters, Catherine Kay MacDonald and Margaret Peg Guay all died earlier. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm at the R. W. Walker Funeral, 69 Court St., Plattsburgh, NY. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 am at the Robert W. Walker Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in the Cadyville Protestant Cemetery followed by a gathering at American Legion Post 1619 in West Plattsburgh. Donations, in his memory, may be made to the Cadyville Fire Dept.
