Obituary

CHAZY – Robert "Bob" Cheeseman, 86, of Miner Farm Rd., passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at his home with his wife and granddaughter.
He was born in Alburg VT., on February 9, 1936 to Stanton and Olive (Honsinger) Cheeseman. Bob moved with his family around the second grade, attending Chazy Central Rural School, graduating high school in 1954. He spent his summers at Patnode Motors, now Riley Ford and in winter months he helped his father in the family business of oil delivery, eventually taking over the business in 1961. He then added a tractor and snowmobile supply, selling both businesses in 1980 and began working for Agway Energy Products, until retirement. In 2008 he became the Chazy town historian.

In his spare time, he volunteered at Chazy Central Rural School in the Reading Buddies program, reading to first and third graders. Bob also volunteered for the, 1812 reenactment and museum days, Chazy Miner "Little Red School House", the Clinton County Fair "Seniors Recall Generations," Redcross' Lifeline, the Brain Tumor Foundation "Ride for Kids," CCRS Frosty's Work Shop, RSVP, repairing exercise bikes, Catholic Charities Youth Safety, Lion's Club, CCRS Alumni Association, Genealogy Society, Chazy Senior Citizen Club, Chazy Riverside Cemetery Board, and the Chazy Fire Department.
In 2015 he was crowned King at Chazy Old Homes Days.
Bob enjoyed riding his Honda Goldwing motorcycle, boating, fishing, carpentry and Romeo Club with friends.

Survivors include his wife, Dawn Coffman and the granddaughter they raised, Jessica Bertrand; children, John "Allen" Coffman, Bettina Bertrand; grandchildren Emmett Coffman, Kobe Laroche; sister, Nancy Cheeseman; brothers-in-law, Mike (Pat) Baker, Dick (Nancy) Baker; sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Fuchs, Melissa Baker, Anne Cary and her daughter Cindy Cary.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Glen Cheeseman; brothers-in-law, Amandus "Tiny" Fuchs, Francis "Bumper" Baker and Bruce Cary.

A graveside service will be held at a later date Riverview Cemetery in Chazy.
In lieu of flowers and food the family is asking to wait until the graveside service.
